Qualifications: COMDANCE Teachers Diploma (Jazz & Tap), Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Psychological Science, Solicitor of the Supreme Court of the ACT
With over 23 years of teaching experience across Brisbane and Canberra, Briohny began her dance training at Carolyn Gilby Dance Centre (QLD) , where she had the opportunity to work with and perform repertoire by Paul Boyd and Janette Mulligan. She holds multiple teaching qualifications with COMDANCE, along with RAD Advanced 2 and the RAD Grade 8 Award, and is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique.
As Head of Jazz and Tap at LCDC, Briohny brings extensive knowledge of the COMDANCE syllabus, a nationally recognised framework that supports structured, progressive training in jazz and tap. Her qualifications and knowledge of this syllabus enable her to deliver and support our teachers in high-quality classes, maintaining consistency, clarity and strong technical standards across the faculty.
As a student, Briohny performed internationally at Disneyland Anaheim and Universal Studios Hollywood, and was part of the Opening Ceremony for the 2001 Goodwill Games. Since joining the LCDC faculty in 2013, she has taught a wide range of styles, with a particular love for tap.
Briohny is passionate about supporting each student’s individual development, building both strong technical foundations and the confidence to perform and express themselves. Outside of the studio, she enjoys spending time with her family, loves her dogs and being active.
Fun Fact: Briohny he played tuba in the Queensland Ambulance Service Concert Band under the direction of Major Laurie Young.
