About

James is a highly versatile director, choreographer and performer with extensive experience across theatre production and performance. He holds a Bachelor of Design (Fashion; Distinction) from the Whitehouse Institute, bringing a unique combination of creative and technical expertise to his work in the performing arts.

His commitment to developing emerging artists was demonstrated through five years as Associate Director and Tutor at Hunter Drama, where he played a key role in mentoring and guiding young performers. James brings this same passion for nurturing talent into every rehearsal and classroom, fostering both confidence and professionalism in his students.

As a performer, James has appeared in a wide range of productions across Australia. Recent credits include Mr. Braithwaite in Billy Elliot (Free-Rain Theatre Company) and Angel in Kinky Boots (Packemin Productions). Other notable roles include Chistery in Wicked, Neleus in Mary Poppins, and Squeegee Man in RENT. He has also performed in ensemble roles in productions such as Spamalot, Funny Girl, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hairspray, The Phantom of the Opera and Grease. His dance background includes competing as a finalist at the USASF Dance Worlds in Orlando, as well as performing internationally at Disneyland and Universal Studios.

James’s work as a director and choreographer includes & Juliet and Sweet Charity (Free-Rain Theatre Company), Disney’s The Little Mermaid (SYMT 2023), Peter Pan, Rock of Ages, Chicago and Shrek (Hunter Drama), Spamalot (The Very Popular Theatre Company), and Wicked (Metropolitan Players). His work is characterised by strong storytelling, attention to detail and a clear artistic vision.

James brings a wealth of industry experience, creativity and professionalism to his work, and is passionate about inspiring the next generation of performers while contributing to a vibrant and evolving theatre community.
