Providing outstanding tuition for young dancers in the Tuggeranong area since 1990, Lisa Clark Dance Centre (formerly Lisa Clark School of Ballet) has a national reputation for excellence in Classical Ballet.  With over 400 students, the school now offers classes in many areas of the Performing Arts.

About Lisa Clark Dance Centre

Established in 1990, Lisa Clark Dance Centre (formally Lisa Clark School of Ballet) started out as a school of 30 students dancing once a week at a local community centre. 30 years later, LCDC has seen thousands of students through the school, with hundreds being part of the LCDC family from ages 3-18years old. In 2021, the school has over 400 students, operating out of our own purpose fitted premises located in Hume. 

Throughout the years, students of Lisa Clark Dance Centre (LCDC) have continually achieved at extremely high levels locally, nationally and internationally. Graduates of the have gained admission into world-renowned schools such as the Australian Ballet School, English National Ballet School, Hamburg Ballettschule, New Zealand School of Dance, Houston Ballet School, VCA and WAPPA. Many of these students have continued to follow their love of dance and have gained contracts with the Australian Ballet Company, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, Caribbean Cruise Lines and the Moulin Rouge.

Students of LCDC have competed in and been placed at the Genee International Ballet Competition, scholarships at the MacDonalds Ballet Scholarship in Sydney and places in the semi-finals and finals of the Prix de Lausanne (Switzerland) and the Youth American Grand Prix (New York).

During the schools lifetime, nine teachers have achieved their teaching qualifications through the LCDC, many of them of whom are still teaching at the school today.

To cater to increasing demand and to provide more opportunities for students, the Lisa Clark School of Ballet became the Lisa Clark Dance Centre and moved to purpose-built premises in Hume in 2011.

Continually striving to give our students the best and most professional opportunities our annual concert is held at the Playhouse Theatre at the Canberra Theatre Centre.

Our qualified and experienced staff, the best in their fields, provide classes in classical ballet and both recreational and vocational levels, pas de deux, contemporary, jazz, tap, lyrical, musical theatre, as well as special pre-school dance classes and classes for adults.

LCDC operates under the following key principles:

Our Facilities

The LCDC boasts one of the newest and most modern dance facilities in Canberra. There are four large studios on two floors, all with sprung floors for safe dance practice, reverse cycle air-conditioning, barres, and mirrors. All studios are laid with Tarkett, a non-slip vinyl specifically designed for dance. The Centre has a piano and full audio-visual services.

There are also changing cubicles, a common room for senior students, a dance-wear shop, toilets, and a shower, cafe style waiting areas for parents and ample off and on-street parking. The dance centre designs have been fully approved by the appropriate authorities and have full fire and security systems.
